NFL To Europe…Again
Well, the NFL has announced which two teams get to suffer from jet lag, bad food, and unknowledgeable soccer fans in the stands. This year the two teams that will be playing in London will be the San Diego Chargers and the New Orleans Saints. Guess which team loses the home game? New Orleans. Yeah I guess they could afford to lose all the business revenue that each home game brings in. It’s not like the city is still rebuilding or anything. I’m sure the team will make money from the trip, but local businesses are going to take a huge shot from the loss of home game revenue. I’m not suggesting that the NFL owes New Orleans anything, but they shouldn’t try to sell us that they’re supporting the city when in reality they have not. Individual players have done great work in the rebuilding of the New Orleans area and all the NFL has done is milk off of their efforts. New Orleans was the one team that really couldn’t afford to lose a home game, but they will. And not to leave the Chargers out, but isn’t San Diego to London a hell of a flight? I bet they just threw some darts at a map and wherever they landed is what teams were picked.
