Former Rams Taking Patriots To Court
From the, oh Lord just let it go files; some former St. Louis Rams players are suing the New England Patriots for $100 million. According to FoxSports:
A lawsuit filed Friday by a former St. Louis Rams player and others seeks millions of dollars in damages from the alleged taping of Rams practices by the New England Patriots before the 2002 Super Bowl.
According to the report, the main Ram involved is Willie Gary. More details on the case were available in USA Today:
Willie Gary, who played on the Rams Super Bowl team, wants each member of the Rams’ Super Bowl roster to receive $25,000 – the difference between the bonuses paid to the losing team and the winning team.
Gary, who now lives in Atlanta and plays arena football, also wants compensation for not receiving a Super Bowl XXXVI ring, which now sell for $125,000 on the Internet auction site eBay, according to the suit.
Watch out people; here comes the landslide. Don’t be surprised if this isn’t the first of the lawsuit dominoes to fall. If this case by some miracle goes to trial and the old Rams actually win it; don’t be surprised if you this happen in other sports too. How many former MVP and Cy Young runner-ups are sitting at home on the phone with lawyers bitching about bonuses that guys like Clemens and Bonds cost them. If either of these guys are actually hit with a perjury charge; you just know that there are lawyers lined up waiting to hit them with lawsuits.
As much as I hate the Pats and Hoody, this is f’n ridiculous. You can’t sue because you feel that you got cheated out of a game. Suing is weak, and there’s no way that these players can prove that they would have won the game anyways. Everybody has had something under the table happen to them at a job; you suck it up and move on with your life. Now, if a bunch of former Rams want to wait on Tom Brady outside of a bar and settle it gangster-style; that’s perfectly acceptable. Make sure to hit him in the face, repeatedly.
