Michael Vick’s Situation Is Complicated
According to ESPN.com Michael Vick has not entered the rehabilitation program that could cut months off of his time; for the reason that he must be employed in order to be eligible for the program, and his NFL suspension makes it impossible for him to currently be able to perform his job:
To qualify for the halfway house, Vick must be employed. If the NFL ends his indefinite suspension and an NFL team is willing to sign him, he may be able train and prepare for the 2009 season from the halfway house, according to experts of federal prison programs.
I’ve got a better idea. Since it says that Vick has to be employed let him be employed. Let him do his time at McDonald’s, Wendy’s, or Pizza Hut. Then when his suspension is over, let him go back to the NFL. There is no way that the NFL should shorten Vick’s suspension, just so that he can shave some time off of his sentence. It’s going to be a PR nightmare when Vick comes back anyways, no reason that they should hurry to rush the landslide. Plus, if you scramble from prison, don’t they shoot you?
