So Are The Suns Good Or What?
After spending some time looking like they should be wearing Washington Generals’ throwback jerseys; it seems that the Phoenix Suns are starting to get the hang of this whole Shaquille O’Neil thing.
Last night, the Suns won their fifth game in a row, beating the Trail Blazers 111-98, on the strength of 25 points by Amare, 23 by Steve Nash, and 16 by the Daddy, who was 7-9 from the field and played 33 minutes for the Suns.
Shaq is looking good, in shape, and intense and the Suns are really starting to get it together.
It’s hard to watch this team play and realize that it’s the same team that got whacked by 30 by the Pistons and that was causing many people to wonder if they would even make the playoffs. It’s hard not to trace this sudden resurgence in Phoenix back to the Shaq dive into the crowd against the Spurs, since the Suns are undefeated since then and are scoring points like hotcakes, and are shooting 55 percent from the field, during the winning streak. Grant Hill is a believer.
“If anyone thinks that guy doesn’t have anything left, just hand out copies of that tape,” said Grant Hill, who had 11 points and made five of his seven shots despite playing with a bruised wrist. “Hopefully, people will learn not to get him upset. You don’t want to wake a sleeping giant.”
I would normally take this time to say something smart-assed about Grant Hill being an expert when it comes to washed up players, but Grant was 5-7, and it’s just not appropriate to poke fun at a player for being washed up when he’s had a good night. I’ll wait until he pulls an 0-8 or something and then I’ll do it. You’re welcome Grant.
And besides that, Steve Nash is the greatest Canadian to come to America since Wolverine. That white boy be ballin’ eh?
