Indiana’s Next Coach, Isiah?…Not An April Fool’s Joke
Are you scared, Indiana fan? You probably shouldn’t be. But, here’s what the New York Times had to say, about the possibility of Zeke going to Indiana, as the basketball coach:
Coach Isiah Thomas sidestepped whether he was interested in talking with Indiana University about its coaching position.
Thomas, whose Knicks have lost 14 of 16, has a 53-102 record in two seasons with the Knicks. He helped Indiana win the 1981 N.C.A.A. championship, but he has never coached in college.
He indicated that the Hoosiers had not consulted him.
“No, I have a job,” Thomas said before the Knicks lost to the Hawks in Atlanta on Sunday.
Now let’s come back to reality. There’s not a chance in hell that Indiana wants Isiah to be their next coach (I don’t think), but imagine the possibilities. If Isiah were to be given that job, you would have Indiana fans driving their tractors off of…well there’s no cliffs in Indiana…into the ocean…nope no water, off of…hell, I don’t know what there is to drive off of there, but it would be bad.
And Zeke, as for that “I have a job” excuse? I wouldn’t get too used to using that. Just a hunch. Maybe Isiah could get the Indiana job and hire Bob Knight as a “special consultant”. That’s absolutely a brilliant idea! It makes sense to me. Isiah likes ruining big jobs, and he’s very good at it. Indiana definitely qualifies as a big job, plus it’s in the Midwest, so, on the whole, there would be less people that would be damaged by Thomas’ lack of common sense and general coaching acumen. But, as entertaining as it would be, I wouldn’t wish Isiah on anyone. Putting him at Indiana, would be like dropping an atomic bomb on Rhode Island. Just more tragedy than a place that size could handle. You guys give us corn damn it. You deserve better than that.
