Jay Cutler Throws Teammate Under The Bus
Denver quarterback Jay Cutler had some interesting things to say about wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who has had a string of off-field incidents that have been anything but positive.
According to Fox, Cutler had more than a few things to say about Marshall’s problems:
“Yeah, he’s not my favorite person right now,” Cutler said. “I mean, I support him, but it’s always something with him right now.”
I think that Cutler’s idea of supporting Marshall, is a little different from my idea of supporting someone.
“His DUI was a wakeup call,” Cutler retorted. “He’s had many wakeup calls. I mean, he’s been in (coach Mike) Shanahan’s office many times. I’ve been up there with him. He said the same thing: ‘This is a wakeup call. This is the last thing that’s going to happen. Blah blah blah.’ I mean, until he goes out and proves it, we’ll see what happens.”
Blah blah blah, isn’t exactly what I would call supporting Marshall, although Cutler says that he has a good relationship with Marshall:
“I love Brandon to death and he’s a great kid at heart. I don’t think he goes out there looking for trouble. He’s not at bars late. He’s not doing those things that other people do. It’s just something about him. He’s always into something”.
For starters, Cutler can drop the great kid stuff, the last time I checked they were both 24, so he can quit trying to act like Tom Brady talking about a draft pick. If he really had Marshall’s back, the last place that he would criticize him would be in the media. That’s a bush move from a quarterback that’s trying to get his team to follow him. The Broncos are also trying to make the playoffs for the first time since 2005, which also, coincidentally was followed by Cutler being drafted and given the quarterback position. So he might want to think about that the next time he drives the bus over a teammate.
That being said, Marshall is the guy who hurt himself when he tripped over an empty McDonald’s wrapper. But that just means he better not line up across from Grimace or the Hamburglar. Grimace is the Purple People Eater and he makes Ray Lewis look like Jerry Seinfeld; and the Hamburglar spends time in places that PacMan Jones stays away from. And I don’t mean libraries.
