Lady Vols Win NCAA Women’s Championship
Eight is alot; and I don’t care what the game is. Winning that many championships is impressive. and that is just what Pat Summitt and the Tennessee Lady Volunteers did Tuesday night; as they brought home the eighth women’s championship in school history, and made it look easy in the process, closing the tourney down with a 64-48 victory over Stanford; a team that had beaten the Lady Vols earlier in the year.
Playing with a hurt (dislocated) shoulder, Candace Parker scored 17 points, and helped lead the Vols to their second straight NCAA Women’s Championship. Tomorrow Candace will go on to that league who no one watches and will be the number one pick in their draft, but make no mistake about it, the last two years have been the most successful ones of her basketball career. She could go on to win five or six WNBA Championships, but these are the two that peeps will remember.
It’s been a pleasure watching Candace over the years. Especially, from a male perspective, as over her three years in college. she has gone from being rather plain and ordinary-looking, to “Damn, did you see her!”. Congrats ladies.
