Is This Really The Way That David Stern Wants To Push The WNBA?
When it comes to the WNBA even their commercials are bad.
Exhibit A:
The new Candace Parker WNBA commercial:
This commercial breaks so many rules of good advertising that it’s not funny. For starters, you have the woman who you hope will bring fans to the WNBA spend about a minute totally trashing the product, and then the only way that you acknowledge that it was sarcasm, is by putting a written message on the screen that says, “she wouldn’t say that…would you?” Um guys, she just did say those things, and if I had been watching this commercial when it came on, I might have watched a little of it, said hells yeah, then walked to the fridge, and never caught the part at the end. I just think that it’s a bad idea having your soon-to-be biggest star downing a product that alot of people already don’t like, and thinking that you’re going to pull reverse psychology on everyone, and that crowds of people will storm out to see the WNBA.
But hell, maybe it worked for something; after all, it did get a WNBA post out of me, and I’m pretty sure that there aren’t icicles in hell yet, so I guess that’s a bonus.
