Double Clutchin’-The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly At Darlington

May 11, 2008 By: rock Category: FastMachines, Racing No Comments →

From my column at FastMachines.com:

Tonight’s race at Darlington was a great way to get to know Kyle Busch .

If someone who had only a cursory knowledge of NASCAR and it’s drivers, tuned in to the race Saturday night, they would have had the privilege of seeing every facet of Kyle Busch’s racing persona.

The Good: Busch flat-out owned the redecorated Darlington track, coming back from a pit row penalty that put him a lap down, to dominate the race, beating Carl Edwards by over three seconds, for his third Sprint Cup victory of the year. The victory was an impressive feat, considering that it seemed as if Busch was rubbing the wall every-time he came through a turn, and that he had brakes that looked like they were hotter than the inside of your average Hot Pocket. Also, Busch apparently didn’t have that good of a car, and in victory, he showed the driving skill that makes him one of the most impressive racers on the track, and a real threat to win every race. Busch led 169 of the total 367 laps, and he made the “Lady in Black” his and his alone…

Double’ Clutchin’-A Few More Things About Richmond

May 07, 2008 By: rock Category: FastMachines, Racing No Comments →

After last Saturday night’s Crown Royal 400, there has really only been one story all week, and of course that was the shenanigans of the last several laps; the Kyle Busch/Dale Jr. fiasco. That subject has been analyzed to death, and honestly there’s not much left to say about the incident, other than that in many (Junior) fans’ minds, something underhanded happened, and you are not going to convince them otherwise. That statement being made, there was much more that happened at Richmond than just the Busch/Junior crash, and those things deserved to be discussed, before we move on to Darlington. “Did Kyle Mean To?”-FastMachines.com Blog

May 04, 2008 By: rock Category: FastMachines, Racing No Comments →

Of course I’m talking about Kyle Busch’s crashing of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the final laps at Richmond. To answer the above question: Of course he did.

Kyle Busch lost any credibility with me a long time before Saturday night’s bumper car play with D-88. If this were any other driver (not with the last name Busch) I’d be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I don’t buy that the car was that loose; it was too much of a coincidence, and even the folks in the booth were having a hard time sounding like they believed that it was an accident. I mean, it just so happened that Kyle got loose, and it just happened to be with the guy that took his ride and his spot? Sorry Pollyanna, there is no tooth fairy, and Virginia there is no Santa Claus. Kyle did what Kyle does. Now that I’ve said that piece, let me make my real point. Rocking And Rolling With FastMachines.com

May 03, 2008 By: rock Category: FastMachines No Comments →

Just in case you haven’t had your fill of me, and you appreciate things that go fast and bump in the night (no I’m not talking about Kim Kardashian, perverts), I’m going to be doing some NASCAR blogging over at Fastmachines.com.  I’ll post a small bit of each post here and then give you the option of following the link over to FastMachines:

First off, a thank you to Josh and the good folks here at FastMachines, for giving me the opportunity to talk a little NASCAR with you fine folks. But rather than jump right in with opinions about tonight’s race, I thought it might be a good idea to let you fine readers know a little bit about me, and let you decide for yourself whether or not you want to read these articles in the future (if there is a future, I mean, hey, the folks here could come to the realization that I suck and toss me out on my rear).

As a public service announcement, I’ll get this warning out of the way first, my writing style is not for everyone…

For the rest of this post go to FastMachines.  Thanks!
