Justin Gimelstob Called Anna Kournikova a What?

June 29, 2008 By: rock Category: Hotties, Misc. Sports, Racing No Comments →

From the “wow, I can be kind of sexist, but even I wouldn’t say the stuff he said,” files, former and current tennis nobody Justin Gimelstob apologized to former and current tennis hot-body Anna Kournikova for saying some rather boorish things about her in a recent interview. What did he say? Well, here’s the list:

“She’s a bitch,” Gimelstob said.

“We’re gonna kick her a–hole.

“Hate’s a very strong word. I just despise her to the maximum level, right below hate.

“I think she falls into the Marcelo Rios scumbag category. And this whole bluff about her retiring because of her back? She had the yips on her serve, she can’t get her serve on the court.”

Asked if he had ever been attracted to Kournikova, Gimelstob raged: “Definitely not. I have no attraction to her, because she’s such a douche.

“I really have no interest in her. I wouldn’t mind having my younger brother, who’s kind of a stud, nail her and then reap the benefits of that.”

Wow. That sounds more like Donald Trump going off on Rosie, than it sounds like a man who is on the ATP, which oversees men’s tennis. Serena Williams came out and called the remarks “unprofessional”.

Thank you, Serena for your insight; I never would have figured that out on my own. But, I am left wondering just what he meant by this comment:

“I really have no interest in her. I wouldn’t mind having my younger brother, who’s kind of a stud, nail her and then reap the benefits of that.”

Was he hoping that his little brother would let him hide in the closet and watch? Not sure what’s going on there. Were they wanting to film it? Plus, I can’t remember calling any other male a stud, I don’t have a brother, but I’m pretty sure that if I did I wouldn’t call him one either, even if he was my twin, which would make him a stud by birthright.

In his apology he said:

“I am extremely disappointed in myself,” Gimelstob said in the statement. “I take full responsibility for all the words that came out of my mouth … Anna Kournikova, World Team Tennis and many others deserve my deepest apologies.

“I recognize that my access to communicate to the public should be used in a positive way, and this was clearly not the case last week.” (Chicago Tribune)

Well, at least it’s a better apology than if he just said, “yeah, tell that b***h, I’m sorry and I’ll make it up to her later”, and then followed it up with a wink and a big thumbs-up.

Hey Shaq? Tell Me How Your Badge Tastes

June 24, 2008 By: rock Category: NBA, Racing No Comments →

Well, it seems like there were more people than just Jim Rome who didn’t think that Shaq’s verbal assault on Kobe Bryant was very funny. One of those people is Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio who pulled Shaq’s special issue police badges. According to ESPN:

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the Phoenix Suns center’s use of a racially derogatory word and other foul language left him no choice. Arpaio made Shaq a special deputy in 2006 and promoted him to colonel of his largely ceremonial posse later that year.

“I want his two badges back,” Arpaio told The Associated Press on Tuesday. “Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.”

Careful there sheriff. Lord knows you don’t want to get Shaq angry, he might make a jealous rhyme about you WHILE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FREAKING COUNTRY! And then he might try to make the whole thing blow over by remarking that it was a joke, just done in fun. Because it’s always funny to ask another guy how your a$$ tastes. Nothing incendiary about that at all. And trust me that wasn’t a freestyle, I know several people who rap (okay, I know one) that will tell you that Shaq’s rhyme was definitely written out, and he came to the club with that all locked and loaded, so I’m not buying that it was a spontaneous occurrence.

Shaq saw his opportunity and he pounced on it. Hope that the moment’s worth of petty payback was worth it.

Double Clutchin’-The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly From Sonoma

June 23, 2008 By: rock Category: FastMachines, NASCAR, Racing, Rants No Comments →

First off, let me be cranky for a minute and although I’m probably in the minority here, I like baseball inside a diamond, football on a 100-yard field (or 120 counting the end-zones, if you want to be picky), and I prefer NASCAR races to be held on an oval track. I’m not a big fan of road races in the NASCAR circuit because they’re just too different from the other races that the drivers usually run, and to me it’s the equivalent of watching people trying to walk on a hockey rink without ice skates. Many of the drivers have no clue how to race a road course; and more so, many of them do not have the desire to learn how (I’m talking to you Junior, with a hearty yell at Matt Kenseth too), and are just happy to survive until the finish line. That’s just my opinion, and you’re all free to disagree, as that is your God-given right.  Now that my shameless rant is out of the way, there is still much to talk about after Sonoma, so let’s get started with the G, B, and U:

Tennessee Troublemakers-Jevon Kearse Arrested For DUI

June 22, 2008 By: rock Category: NFL, Racing No Comments →

It’s nice to know that getting rid of Pac…Adam Jones has really made the Tennessee Titans a more law-abiding, less trouble-making group of football players.

Well, maybe not.

From NewsChannel5:

Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse has been arrested for DUI.

Metro Nashville police said Kearse was seen speeding and swerving several times while travelling west on West End Avenue.

The officer who pulled the Titans over said Kearse exhibited slurred speach, red eyes, and smelled of alcohol. He reportedly refused a breath test.

The officer said Kearse stated that he only had one vodka and a red bull.

This incident is on the heels of Titans receiver Brandon Jones getting busted for carrying a loaded .32 in his baggage. Jones had the best reason for the mistake:

“Today I was cited for carrying a handgun when going through security at Nashville International Airport,” Jones said. “Obviously I did not know I was carrying my gun. This morning I grabbed a bag and placed my clothing in the bag, then rushed to the airport. I had forgotten that the last time I had used the bag was when I went target shooting.”

Because normal people make that mistake all the time. The last time that I went to the beach, I unpacked my socks, underwear, and had to laugh when I noticed that I had accidentally packed my Uzi. Too bad it wasn’t my nine. I would have noticed that; because we all know my nine weighs a ton.

But, back to the lecture at hand. Is there a Pac Man Jones Troublemaker of the Year award that I don’t know about in Nashville? While I’ll be the first to admit that Nashville isn’t the most exciting place in the world, and the music coming out of there these days is enough to make anyone want to drink and carry firearms, there has to be more to do than just drink, carry guns, and go to strip clubs.

Just a hunch.

NHRA Accident Results In Death

June 22, 2008 By: rock Category: Racing No Comments →

I hate having to put the serious hat on, especially when it’s for something this serious.

During today’s Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNational, a terrible accident left Funny Car driver Scott Kalitta dead, after his car combusted. The video of the accident is available on YouTube, but folks, I’ll be honest with you, I have a pretty strong stomach for stuff, but after seeing this crash when ESPN showed it, I really do not have the desire to ever see it again. It may have been the worst crash that I have ever witnessed in years of watching motor sports, and I don’t mean that as just hyperbole; it was that bad. According to reports the car was traveling at close to 300 mph when it finally crashed, and by then it was already engulfed in flames.

I can’t imagine how horrible it must have been to witness this crash in person, and my heart goes out to everyone who was in attendance. But our thoughts and prayers especially go out to Scott’s family.

The NHRA site has been down quite a bit due to increased traffic volume, so if you need more information about the crash click here, and for more information about Scott’s life click here.
