Bill O’Reilly And Friends Don’t Get MMA

June 06, 2008 By: rock Category: MMA, Sports News, Video No Comments →

So what you have here is a couple of old people ranting about MMA dumbing down the culture of the America, and about how this would have never been allowed on TV back in the old days. Of course it wouldn’t have; you didn’t have TV back in the old days. Didn’t have phones either, hell you guys had to wait on tin cans and string to be invented in order to have a means to communicate. Gotta love it when Jane Hall compared the Elite XC and MMA on television to watching a “live execution”. Remember folks that O’Reilly is on the Fox network and we really don’t want to get into some of the stunts that Fox has pulled in order to get viewers.

McFadden Refuses To Pay For Fight Video

According to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, former Arkansas running back Darren McFadden has refused to purchase a tape that allegedly shows McFadden involved in a brawl outside of a club on January 10.

The asking price?  Apparently, the price was between 500,000 and 1 million dollars for the tape currently held by Daniel Bryant, who is the owner of Ernie Biggs, which is the bar that let McFadden (underage) and his brother (also underage in).  But of course, the owner of the tape has Run-DMC’s best interests at heart:

“I would still like for Darren to have the tape,” Bryant said. “It’s not too late. I’d rather him have it than anyone else. I would think they would want it. I don’t want to be the guy that makes Darren Mc-Fadden look even worse. That’s not a good spot for me to be in. I already have the black eye, the bad reputation in the face of this happening, and now I’ve been affected monetarily, as well, and so I just felt like I came out on the short end of the stick.”

Bryant also said that he knew people at ESPN that were very interested in getting their hands on the tape, and that he would rather give the tape to McFadden.

No shit, they’re interested, that would run about 1000 times a day, everyday until the draft, and then it would run during the draft.  ESPN gets as excited about videos of athletes in trouble as the internet does for celebrity sex tapes.

Yeah, this guy’s a regular saint.  He’s just looking at D’s future you know.  And at that big, fat signing bonus that McFadden’s going to get in that future.  His club let under-aged kids into it, whatever damages were inflicted, are on him and his club alone.  McFadden should have had better sense than to get himself in this situation, but the idea of having to pay this clown is a joke.

Bob Costas Latest To Bash Bloggers

March 13, 2008 By: rock Category: Sports News No Comments →

I don’t really have a great deal of time tonight to post on this Miami Herald article, but I thought that Mr. Bob Costas’ comment that bloggers are “pathetic, get a life losers” made the article worth posting.  I’m sure you’re smart enough to draw your own opinion about it, and I’m also guessing that you’re smart enough to figure out what my opinion will be. WNBA Coach Gets Fired After Claims Of Sexual Harassment In Organization

March 13, 2008 By: rock Category: Rants, Sports News No Comments →

Okay, this article is very, very vague, but Fox says that Chicago Sky Coach and General Manager Bo Overton resigned from coaching the Sparks very soon after team president Margaret Stender began investigating claims of sexual harassment with the Sky organization.  The article says that claims against Overton were first made on an Internet message board:

In a message she posted on the team’s Internet message board Monday, Stender had asked for help in investigating any acts of sexual harassment involving the team.

The request came after an anonymous message thread alleging Overton had harassed some players last season was posted on the Sky’s message board March 7.

Not saying that he did it, but his timing sure makes him look guilty as hell.  If he did do it, how dumb do you have to be to sexual harass (allegedly) a team full of women, when your boss is a woman.  If he did do it, Overton’s lucky they let him leave without cutting his testicles off and sticking them in the trophy case.

What’s really bad is I had absolutely no idea who the Chicago Sky were when I read this story.  I had no idea that they were a WNBA team until I got to the end of the article.  But I’m sure that it’ll catch on sooner or later, it’s only been going on for a couple of years now, right?  What?  It’s been going on for 10 years?  Damn.  Okay forget that whole catching on part.

North Carolina Beats Duke

Hey, why didn’t anyone tell me that Duke and North Carolina played last night?  You would think that ESPN would talk about it at least a little bit before hand.  Now that the sarcasm is out of the way, it actually was a pretty good game.  Tyler Hansbrough showed up big for big blue, and the Tar Heels came away with a 76-68 victory on Duke’s home court.

The WGWG (aka world’s greatest white guy), scored 16 points and had 15 rebounds; while passing the 2000 point mark for his college career.  Not bad, not bad.  He still needs to find a better hobby though.
