According to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, former Arkansas running back Darren McFadden has refused to purchase a tape that allegedly shows McFadden involved in a brawl outside of a club on January 10.
The asking price? Apparently, the price was between 500,000 and 1 million dollars for the tape currently held by Daniel Bryant, who is the owner of Ernie Biggs, which is the bar that let McFadden (underage) and his brother (also underage in). But of course, the owner of the tape has Run-DMC’s best interests at heart:
“I would still like for Darren to have the tape,” Bryant said. “It’s not too late. I’d rather him have it than anyone else. I would think they would want it. I don’t want to be the guy that makes Darren Mc-Fadden look even worse. That’s not a good spot for me to be in. I already have the black eye, the bad reputation in the face of this happening, and now I’ve been affected monetarily, as well, and so I just felt like I came out on the short end of the stick.”
Bryant also said that he knew people at ESPN that were very interested in getting their hands on the tape, and that he would rather give the tape to McFadden.
No shit, they’re interested, that would run about 1000 times a day, everyday until the draft, and then it would run during the draft. ESPN gets as excited about videos of athletes in trouble as the internet does for celebrity sex tapes.
Yeah, this guy’s a regular saint. He’s just looking at D’s future you know. And at that big, fat signing bonus that McFadden’s going to get in that future. His club let under-aged kids into it, whatever damages were inflicted, are on him and his club alone. McFadden should have had better sense than to get himself in this situation, but the idea of having to pay this clown is a joke.
