Ozzie Being Ozzie
About time someone charged the mound. This is July and baseball players need to start acting like they want to start some stuff if they want to get people interested in September baseball. Of course Ozzie’s team was involved in the fracas, even though, in all honesty, this whole thing was started by a Kansas City Royals player who actually thinks that people care enough about him to try to hit him. Ozzie got kicked out of the game after going nuts when his pitcher was kicked out of the game. From the Chicago Tribune:
“Olivo overreacted to the situation,” Guillen said. “I wonder why a guy (plate umpire Tim Timmons) thought we were going to hit the guy with the bases loaded with a pitch in on the hands. This is my 20-something year in the big leagues and I still don’t understand what commonsense they have when they make those decisions.
“I’m not going to bring a guy in that throws 85 miles an hour to hit somebody. I guarantee it. I’ll bring (Octavio) Dotel, I’ll bring (Matt) Thornton. Then I will tell them to throw at them. That’s the way I do business.”
I hope that the full video pops out because A.J. Pierzynski took a wicked cheap shot that I don’t think is on the ESPN video. Hell, as hated as A.J. is, I wouldn’t be surprised if this whole thing was an elaborate plot to get a shot in at him.
Gerald Jones Can Sing a Little
Tennessee wide receiver Gerald Jones shared some soulful crooning with Knox News online producer Erin Chapin:
A good season by Jones and maybe the News Sentinel won’t be singing for Coach Fulmer’s job next year. Hah! I made a funny!
Jones follows a long line of UT athletes that have loved to show off their singing/performing abilities including Jordan Howell and Bobby Maze.
Hey, at least he’s not talking about killing people like this guy. But, I do hope that this isn’t an early sign that UT is going to the Music City Bowl. At that point I’ll be singing Fade to Black.
Ron Artest Has a Nice Yellow Suit
Because he only referred to himself in the the third person only a few times, I guess that this was a pretty good interview for Mr. Artest. He’s still not apologizing for his role in the brawl in Detroit. Because after all, he was disrespected that night.
Ron Artest quote of the night: “Everybody’s different. That’s why we’ve got different DNA”.
Thank you professor. Who said that you can’t learn anything on the Internet?
The Most Interesting Part Of Today’s Brickyard-Birds Hit By Car
I’m a NASCAR fan. But today’s race was an abomination. With competition cautions every ten laps or so, NASCAR might as well have started the race, said “okay fellas, ten laps left” and it would have been better than the nap-fest that we were given in place of a race. That being said, the most incredible (and disturbing) part of the race had to be Jeff Burton going Randy Johnson on a couple of birds that were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I think that the first one got away, but the second one can now tell you whether or not that cute little parakeet that you hugged (smothered) when you were five went to heaven or not. Oh yeah, and Jimmie Johnson won.
After the jump you can watch the Randy Johnson bird experience. (more…)
