Whiffers Of The Week-Hypocrite Fans

The next time a sports fan tells you that they care about winning games the right way, remember that they are talking about your team, not theirs.  Want some proof?  Serial recruiting cheater Kelvin Sampson, was given a standing ovation after the Indiana win over Michigan State, and I’m currently watching the Indiana/Purdue game, and Sampson was robustly cheered before the game.  Remember this:  Indiana has a good record, Indiana fans like to win.  Is it any wonder that they wouldn’t mind it if Sampson bent/broke/assaulted the rulebook to do it?

Whiffer Of The Week-Daniel Snyder

Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is one of the wealthiest men in the United States.  Watching him run the Washington Redskins in the ground has convinced me that you too can be a millionaire.  This week Snyder continued the Redskins demise by hiring former Seahawks quarterback coach Jim Zorn.  Zorn has never even been a coordinator in the NFL, he has never called plays, and it goes without saying that he has never worked in an environment as pressure-packed as Washington D.C.  In fact, Zorn isn’t expected to succeed, he’s expected to be a puppet for Snyder to run the team.  Of course, Zorn could turn out to be an excellent coach.  At his next stop, that is.  Zorn has as much chance of succeeding in D.C. as I do of travelling back in time and making love to Marilyn Monroe.  There are many older, veteran players on the Redskins that are not going to listen to some youngin’ that’s in over his head.  I could spend hours writing down all the damage that Snyder has done to his frachise but it comes down to this; the Redskins are too good of a franchise to be looking at a 4-12 season next year, and their fans deserve better.

Whiffer Of The Week: Bill Belichick

Oh how easy it is to pile on.  But let’s get it out there.  This is one of the first times that I have ever seen the hoody out-coached and it was by a guy who the New York media tried to run out of town on a rail.  The normal Patriot second half adjustments did very little to slow the surging Giants defense and Tom Brady got molested the entire game.

And the decision to not kick a 48-yard field goal and to go for it on a long fourth down would get some coaches fired.  Not to mention; you got accused of another cheating scandal!  This one right before the freaking game.

And finally the dumb-ass wore the wrong color hoody.  Everyone knows that grey is the super hoody.  Instead he opted for wearing a hoody the color of perennial losers the Arizona Cardinals.  It’s almost like Belidonna was trying to lose this game for his team.  Congrats Billy Boy, you are this week’s Whiffer of the Week.

Whiffer of the Week-This May Be The Worst Sports Story Ever

January 14, 2008 By: rock Category: Rants, Whiffer of the Week No Comments →

Sports are supposed to be about overcoming obstacles and about the height of physical perseverance.  If that is the case; then the IAAF needs to remind themselves that just maybe someone who has lost his legs and still has had the resolve to become a world-champion caliber runner despite prosthetic legs has a little bit of right to compete in whatever competition he damn well wants.  What?  Are they afraid that this is going to start a new trend in cheating?  I’m sorry, but I don’t think that there will be a big line of runners lining up to chop their legs off in order to run a faster 100.  Oscar Pistorius should be

celebrated for doing something that no one else has ever done and for being an inspiration for everyone in the world not on the IAAF. Instead it may turn into an ugly court battle.  How very sporting.

Congratulations IAAF you’re a worthless excuse for a governing body and you’re this week’s Whiffer of the Week.

Whiffer of the Week-Ohio State

January 08, 2008 By: rock Category: Whiffer of the Week No Comments →

I was so confident in Ohio State’s ability to lose the big game that I purposely held out on the Whiffer award until tonight, with expectations that they would not only blow this game, but that they would blow it big-time and embarrass themselves for the second straight year.  Congratulations to THE Ohio State.  THE Whiffer of the Week.
